Join in the Fun at Software Quest 2001
Love them or hate them, computers are part of everyone’s lives and perhaps nowhere more so than in university engineering departments, where students and faculty not only use computers, but try to develop ever more sophisticated applications.

This Wednesday, May 2, you are invited to view some of these computer programs for yourselves at the Open Day exhibition organized as part of Software Quest 2001. You are sure to be impressed with what you see, particularly when you consider that several of the projects on display are those of the first year programming class, some by students who had not touched a computer before coming to Bilkent!

The exhibition will be open from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the Computer Center Labs, B-306 and B-307. Visitors from industry, as well as faculty, students and the public are invited to select their favorite projects. Following the exhibition, Sun Microsystems will give a talk entitled "The Net Effect on Education" in room B-113.

The day will close with a fun, TV-style Trivia quiz beginning at 6 p.m. in Mithat Çoruh Auditorium. If you think you know a bit about computers, get together with friends to form a group of three and fill in an entry form available at the Open Day exhibition. Example questions and more information about the contest can be found on the web at http://goto.bilkent.edu.tr. Even if you don’t want to take part, please come and watch as we take a sometimes irreverent look at the machine that has come to dominate all our lives!
