Young Critics to Present Their Critiques
|
This week, May 8 through 11, at a four-day "Young Critics Symposium II", thirty-six graduate students from the Department of Turkish Literature will be presenting their work to the public. The symposium will deal with various aspects of modern criticism and the tradition of the novel in Turkish literature. On Tuesday and Wednesday, eighteen students will make presentations on modern criticism, and on Thursday and Friday, eighteen students will present papers on the novel tradition in Turkish.
The symposium will start on Tuesday with the opening speech of Hilmi Yavuz, renowned Turkish poet and essayist, whom will be teaching at the Department of Turkish Literature next fall. The dates and venue are May 8 through 11 at the new B-Building, Room 113. Daily sessions are scheduled between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in the morning and between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in the afternoon, except for the first day when the afternoon session will end at 4 p.m. Come out to meet and support the young and highly promising literary scholars of Turkey.
