First Year Design Students Hold Exhibition
|
First year Interior Architecture and Environmental Design students, taking a course in Basic Design (FA-101), exhibited their final projects at the end of the fall semester.
The theme of the exhibition was “The Abstraction of a Tree”. By using design techniques such as two and three-dimensional projects, color and form, 40% of the final projects were selected, in a two-stage process, by a jury for exhibition. In the first stage, two-dimensional photographs of trees were taken by the students. The aim of the second stage was to make an abstraction from this 2-D image and to create a 3-D object as a result.
The students’ instructors, Nerkis Kural and Christopher Wilson, said that “Design is an all encompassing field and all the design concepts can be applied to any kind of visual arts.” As an example, they referred to last year’s presentations by the students, which applied the principles of the Design course to a dance show.
