Are You Ready for Car Pooling?
|
Have you seen the "Carpool" posters on billboards around campus? Carpool, a new organization created by the Transportation Unit, offers all students the opportunity to improve the environment, reduce traffic congestion and, most importantly, help each other. Carpooling groups will be selected by the Transportation Unit.
In order to become a member of this organization, students with and without cars will be asked to fill out application forms via the Internet. Students having the same general schedules, and living in the same area, will travel to the university together, sharing fuel costs. This organization was created and put into operation with the help of student workers at the Transportation Unit. The students working at the Transportation Unit say that similar carpools such as this are currently being developed at numerous Universities around the world, such as those in the U.S. at the University of Georgia, University of Washington, University of Arizona, Columbia University and Arizona State University.
Carpooling not only benefits the groups concerned but is a way of showing that you care about the environment and your University.
