Letter to the Editor
|
Dear Editor.
I am a Junior in the department of International Relations. The news entitled ‘Euroforum 2002 Held in Ýstanbul’ (on 16 April 2002) created a question in my mind. Before addressing the question, I want to congratulate my colleagues who proudly represented our university and returned home with many awards and recognitions.
My question is: on what grounds or according to which criteria is our delegation selected from the students of Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences? In the article it was reported that this year at the conference four institutions were simulated: the European Commission, the European Council, and the European Parliament. As a student taking the European Integration course this semester, I am quite knowledgeable about these institutions and the way delegates are selected or representatives appointed to them. Unfortunately, I have received no information about the Bilkent delegation is selected. Although I am in the habit of looking at the “News & Announcement” boards in the faculty building, I have never heard anything about the forum before the Bilkent News printed the article. For three years now, I have been reading similar articles about these delegations and conferences but I have yet to receive an answer to my question.
