Konya Selçuk University Senate, represented by Rector Abdurrahman Kutlu, presented an honorary doctorate in Educational Sciences to Prof. Dr. İhsan Doğramacı, founder of Bilkent and Hacettepe universities, in a ceremony held at Selçuk University Campus on October 4.
Prof. Doğramacı was given the honorary degree for his leadership in and contributions to founding a number of universities in Turkey including Selçuk University, for his services in promoting health education, and for his continuous efforts to disseminate high education institutions nationwide by providing opportunities for thousands of higher education age Turkish students.
Following the ceremony, Prof. Doğramacı attended the grand opening of a newly built pre-school named after him as “Prof. Dr. İhsan Doğramacı Pre-school” which will be functioning in tandem with the Faculty of Vocational Education of Selçuk University.
The ceremony invitees included Süleyman Demirel, the 9th President of Turkey.
