Deniz Baykal Shares Ideas

On Wednesday October 10, Kulüp Platform organized a debate with Deniz Baykal on “Değişen Türkiye'de Sol ve CHP” (The Political Left-wing and CHP in changing Turkey). Deniz Baykal, the the leader of Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi, talked about the new balances on political science and their affects on CHP. He argued that in the last 20 years, the political view of social democracy has been changed from conflict psychology to consensus psychology. The underlying fact about this consensus is the sense of covering all the social classes and offering them the required amount of education, health and social security conditions. According to Mr. Baykal, Turkey's recent political conditions and the governmental organizations are far from satisfying those demands of the population.
In the reaming part of his speech, Baykal pointed out Turkey's strategic position in the recent military actions in Afghanistan, and he underlined the fact that Turkey is the only modern, secular, law and anti-colony country in the entire Muslim world, which makes Turkey so important. He strongly argued that the social and economical model that Turkey offers to the whole Muslim world is very crucial and Turkey must use this advantage very carefully due to the delicate situation in the Middle East.
