Dr. Ahmet Oral                                 Prof. Bilal Tanatar

   Two members of the Department of Physics have been inducted into the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA). In the June 2001 general assembly of the Academy, Prof. Bilal Tanatar and Assistant Prof. Ahmet Oral were elected as Regular and Associate members, respectively.
   Prof. Tanatar received his Ph.D. at the University of Delaware. He joined the Physics Department in 1991, after post-doctoral positions in the USA, Canada and Italy. His research area is Quantum Solids and Liquids, and in particular he works on correlation effects in electron systems and Bose-Einstein condensed gases.
   Dr. Oral received his Ph.D. at Bilkent in 1994. After his post-doctoral research in England, he joined the Physics Department in 1999. His research interests include Nanotechnology, Atomic Manipulation, Atomic Force Microscopy and Scanning Hall Probe Microscopy.
