Bilkent Concert Hall Autumn Season Begins |
On Saturday, October 20, the Bilkent Symphony
Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Karl Anton Rickenbacher, began it’s
season by performing Beethoven’s “The Creatures of Prometheus” to a
sold out house. During the concert, Sir Peter Ustinov, presented 14
sections of his own plot to the music, from both Saint-Saens’
“Carnival of Animals” and Beethoven’s “The Creatures of Prometheus”.
Due to the overwhelming popularity of the concert, a repeat
performance was also scheduled for Sunday morning, October 21.
At the press conference prior to the concert, Sir Peter Ustinov was
quoted as saying “I feel a great happiness in combining the art of
writing and acting with the music being performed. I consider myself
a member of the orchestra and the instrument that I play is the
written text. While performing, I consider myself a piece of the
whole and not merely a soloist.”
At the conclusion of the concert, all performers were rewarded with
a standing ovation and more spectacular performances are expected in
the future. The next concert will be on Tuesday, October 23 at 8
p.m.
