Bilkent Concert Hall Autumn Season Begins

On Saturday, October 20, the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Karl Anton Rickenbacher, began it’s season by performing Beethoven’s “The Creatures of Prometheus” to a sold out house. During the concert, Sir Peter Ustinov, presented 14 sections of his own plot to the music, from both Saint-Saens’ “Carnival of Animals” and Beethoven’s “The Creatures of Prometheus”. Due to the overwhelming popularity of the concert, a repeat performance was also scheduled for Sunday morning, October 21.
At the press conference prior to the concert, Sir Peter Ustinov was quoted as saying “I feel a great happiness in combining the art of writing and acting with the music being performed. I consider myself a member of the orchestra and the instrument that I play is the written text. While performing, I consider myself a piece of the whole and not merely a soloist.”
At the conclusion of the concert, all performers were rewarded with a standing ovation and more spectacular performances are expected in the future. The next concert will be on Tuesday, October 23 at 8 p.m.
