International Students at Bilkent in 2001

Bilkent has received new international students for the academic year 2001-2002. There are 5 exchange students from the University of California, 7 students from Associated Colleges of the South (United States), 2 students from Germany (Pforzheim) and 2 from Denmark (University of Southern Denmark). With the visiting students, there are around 30 new students studying at Bilkent this semester. With the newcomers, the total number of international students at Bilkent has reached 180.
All international students received the International Students Handbook before their arrival and have gone through the two week Orientation Program. This helped them to get oriented with the University, the environs, and downtown Ankara and also got them started with Turkish language courses.
Members of the University Administration met with Bilkent international students and faculty, sharing the pain of the tragic events on September 11, expressing togetherness and support for all those effected. Also on this occasion, to assist everyone in being kept up-dated on current events, English broadcasting TV channels, such as CNN and BBC were installed in the Student Union Building.
The International Center welcomes all international students who have not already reported to the Center. To be included in the group-mailing system, they should send an e-mail to: int-stu@lists.bilkent.edu.tr and write 'subscribe' as subject to receive news and information from the International Center.
