Try to Quit Before? Couldn't Make It? Now It’s Time Again!

The ‘Stop Smoking Program’ started on October 19 with an information session, which was open to all Bilkenters. The program coordinators are Dannelle Stevens and Edward Lundy who are also ex-smokers and want to share their experiences on how they quit.
“I smoked for 23 years and everyday I was thinking about how to stop and eventually I made it. Now I want to share my experiences and ideas with others who also want to quit smoking.
I think sharing is the best help” says Danelle Stevens. Edward Lundy added that “Everybody has a different story to share. Our first step is to give information about the advantages of quitting and the second step is to decide where to start. We know that no one can change someone else’s mind. It’s their own decision whether to stop smoking or not, but people can help each other through their support.”
People not only share their experiences but talk about the psychological and physical problems surrounding nicotine addiction. Dannelle Stevens and Edward Lundy need more participants for their program. “We would like to have more participants working with us so that a truly strong support group can be formed.” The support sessions will begin on Tuesday, October 30 between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
For further information contact Dannelle Stevens, at ext.2950 (stevens@bilkent.edu.tr) or Edward Lundy, at ext.3113 (edlundy@bilkent.edu.tr).
