Checkmate!

There is a long standing debate about whether chess is a sport or a science. Some even call it an art. The question has never been resolved, no matter how often it is asked.
Although chess was once a recreational activity reserved for nobles, it is now an activity enjoyed by a large cross-section of society. It is a game with many artistic aspects, requiring real creativity, and yet it also demands the kind of logical thought processes associated with science.
The Chess club is set to begin its activities for the fall semester. These activities include, but are not limited to, beginner and intermediate level chess lessons, tournaments, meetings, and even Live Chess (a chess game played on a giant board where the pieces are represented by people).
The first meeting of the Chess Club will take place on Wednesday, October 10 at 5:40 p.m. at the Student Union building Room B-Z 03. Everybody is welcome to attend.
