Radio Bilkent, Not Just Another Station

One of the largest volunteer student organizations, “Radio Bilkent”, is on the air with a fully renewed structure supported by enthusiastic volunteers. At 96.6, Radio Bilkent broadcasts on campus as well as throughout Ankara, 24 hours a day. About 40 volunteer students work at Radio Bilkent as DJs, and outreach teams which cooperate with other radio members.
For classical music lovers, there is classical music program from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on weekends; other programs offer rock, pop, dance, chill-out, top 20, Turkish pop, and many other kinds of music. A member of Radio Bilkent, Gökçe Ataç (ECON/III) says: “With the new frequency, everything is taken much more seriously and professionally, but we still maintain our amateur spirit”. Gökçe says she finds working at Radio Bilkent very satisfying, and adds: “It is very relaxing to work here. Although Radio Bilkent is run by students, everything happens professionally and with enthusiasm.”
The new volunteers will be welcomed next week after completing their training period. So tune in to 96.6 and become a part of the excitement! If you want to become a member of Radio Bilkent stay tuned to Radio Bilkent’s announcements.

Ekin Pehlivan (IR/III)
