This year, for the first time, the MIT Technology Review conducted a search in Turkey to identify the country’s most innovative and creative young researchers. The Review is one of the world’s oldest and most respected technology publications.
As a result of the survey, Dr. Sedat Nizamoğlu, an alumnus of the Bilkent University departments of Physics (MS) and Electrical and Electronics Engineering (PhD), was named to the Review’s list of “Top 10 Innovators Under 35” in Turkey.
Dr. Nizamoğlu made the list on the basis of his PhD thesis work on LED lighting, carried out at Bilkent under the supervision of Prof. Hilmi Volkan Demir. Immediately upon completing his PhD in 2011, Dr. Nizamoğlu received a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University (2011-2013).
Following his postdoctoral work, he returned to Turkey and is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Özyeğin University in İstanbul.
