On March 7, a workshop involving officials from both the public and private spheres with an interest in or authority over the tourism sector took place at the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management. Initiated by the Governorship of Ankara and the Ankara Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, the Ankara Tourism Workshop involves six committees responsible for marketing Ankara as a tourism destination.
The committee in charge of marketing, promotion and innovation is headed by THM instructor Mustafa Siyahhan, who has vast experience in the tourism industry as a government official. He was councilor for culture and tourism in Copenhagen, Denmark; councilor for tourism in Washington, DC, USA; and general director of marketing and tourism promotion and EU permanent contact point for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Turkey.
Those in attendance at the workshop included Ministry of Culture and Tourism Assistant Director of Marketing and Tourism Promotion Nurpınar Tente, Ankara Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Kamil Özer, and Ankara Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism Director of Promotion Kudret Cabılar, along with academics, officials, executives and managers from the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB), the Ankara Chamber of Tourist Guides (ANRO) and the Ankara Anatolian Tourism Administrators Association (ATİD).
