This week marks the first international “Italian Cuisine Week,” an initiative of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation being organized through Italy’s diplomatic and cultural representatives in 105 countries. Taking place November 21-27, the week celebrates one of the world’s favorite cuisines with over 1,300 events, including contests, conferences, tastings, thematic dinners, exhibitions on culinary themes and technical and scientific workshops.
Here in Ankara, the Embassy of Italy is holding, with the collaboration of various local partners, a series of special events intended to promote and share Italy’s culinary excellence and knowledge. At Bilkent, information on the history of Italian cuisine and its effect on human health will be presented during a seminar (in Turkish) on “The Mediterranean Diet” by clinical dietitian Banu Topalakçı Salman. Hosted by the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management, the seminar will take place on November 24 at 10:40 a.m., in the department’s Banquet Room (RC 202).
