The Bilkent University Library has begun the new year by reminding Bilkent students, faculty and staff of the assistance that the university’s librarians can provide to researchers. In particular, faculty librarians serve as the communication link between the Library and the university’s faculties, academic departments, programs and research centers.

For those unfamiliar with the role of the faculty librarian, the Library administration offers the following description:

“Each faculty of Bilkent University has its own dedicated librarian who is responsible for supporting the teaching, learning and research needs of students and academic staff. These information specialists are equipped with access to information and provide a link between the faculties and the Library. The duties of the faculty librarians include: determining the information needs of users; showing users how to get the best out of the library collections and services; and developing the library collections. In addition to providing orientation sessions in the Library, faculty librarians can visit departments in order to instruct users. They can also help users by answering questions over the telephone and via email.”
