On February 8, Dr. Ayşegül Esin, public health specialist and reproductive health research advisor at the International Children’s Center, gave a talk on the topic of adolescence to fourth-grade students at the Bilkent University Music Preparatory Elementary School.
Dr. Esin’s talk, which took place as part of science class, covered the developmental characteristics of adolescence, including the physical, social and emotional changes that individuals between the ages of 10 and 19 may expect to experience. Dr. Esin also discussed the reproductive system, the importance of personal hygiene for both girls and boys, and the role of nutrition during adolescence, using videos and other visual aids to present the relevant scientific concepts.
The students’ interest in the talk was evident in the questions they asked Dr. Esin at the end.
