With the beginning of the new semester, Le Piment Rouge, the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management’s practice restaurant, once more opened its doors. Each week during the noon hour, Le Piment Rouge offers guests from the Bilkent community and beyond a menu based on a different theme or cuisine.

On October 20 and 21, the restaurant welcomed as its guest chef Zeki Açıköz. Mr. Açıköz, who has appeared on a number of television cooking shows, is the executive chef of the Ankara Sheraton Hotel and Towers and the Luxury Collection Hotel Lugal, and also president of the Turkish Culinary Federation. The menu he chose for Le Piment Rouge featured dishes from the Anatolian and Ottoman cuisines.

The two-day event provided students taking the International Cuisines and Restaurant Service courses an opportunity to work with a celebrity chef and receive culinary and career tips from him. For the occasion, a three-course menu – consisting of Ezo gelin soup as an appetizer, hünkar beğendi as the main course and sakızlı fırın sütlaç for dessert – was prepared and served by the students under the supervision of Mr. Açıköz, along with the restaurant’s chef, Elif Denizci, and its service instructor, Ali Ünal.
