Alican Özkan, a second-year Department of Mechanical Engineering graduate student in Dr. Yegân Erdem’s group, received the Outstanding Poster Award in the “Emerging Technologies” category at the InterPACK/ICNMM 2015 Conference held July 6-10 in San Francisco, California. His work was titled “Silica Synthesis & Coating of Quantum Dots in Droplet-Based Microreactors.” Other collaborators in this work were Yusuf Keleştemur, Hilmi Volkan Demir and Yegân Erdem.
ME graduate student Atakan Arı won the Best Flash Presentation award at the 12th International Workshop on Nanomechanical Sensing (NMC15), one of the most prestigious conferences in the area of nanomechanical sensing. The conference took place July 13-15 at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. The title of his presentation was “Multi-Mode Mass Sensors for Inertial Imaging.” Atakan is a first-year MS student in Dr. Selim Hanay’s group. Other collaborators in the work presented were Çağatay Karakan, Daryoush Majidi, Cenk Yanık, İsmet Kaya and Selim Hanay.
