Professor İhsan Doğramacı, the founder of Bilkent University, was also the moving spirit behind the establishment of the university’s music program and symphony orchestra. Last week, on the seventh anniversary of his death, the Faculty of Music paid fitting tribute to his memory in the form of two commemorative concerts.
The Bilkent Chamber Music Days series offered a program titled “Tribute to Hocabey,” with piano quintets by Dvorak and Schubert played by the Bilkent Quintet and the Eskişehir Ensemble with Tayfun İlhan, on Wednesday, February 22.
On Saturday, February 25, the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra gave a concert dedicated to the memory of Prof. Doğramacı. Conducted by Gürer Aykal, the orchestra performed pieces by Tchaikovsky, with Stanislav Ioudenitch as piano soloist.
