Steps to a Smoke-Free Campus

With the start of the academic year, steps leading up to the eventual implementation of a campus-wide smoking ban are underway. Areas where smoking is permitted are gradually being phased out, until the use of cigarettes, other tobacco products, and electronic cigarettes becomes completely prohibited throughout the entire campus, including all outdoor spaces as well as indoor areas, on September 1, 2022.

On the Main Campus and the Middle Campus, smoking is forbidden inside areas designated by yellow lines, at bus stops and in queues, at all points designated as “No Smoking,” and in unenclosed areas of buildings such as balconies and roofs.

On the East Campus, the use of cigarettes, other tobacco products, and electronic cigarettes is forbidden everywhere except for specially designated smoking areas.

These areas are marked by white lines and posted with signs reading “Smoking Area.”

Penalties and sanctions will apply to students, staff members, alumni, guests and all other persons who violate “no smoking” rules.
