On Friday, February 13, Bilkent University and Turkish satellite operator Türksat signed a cooperation protocol for carrying out joint research and development projects on Friday, February 13. The signing took place at the university.
The protocol, which is being coordinated through the Bilkent University Technology Transfer Office, includes projects in the areas of satellite communications, signal processing and broadcasting, antenna, global positioning and enciphering technologies. These projects will be developed at a laboratory within the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE). To be called the Türksat Lab, it will serve as a good example of industry-university collaboration.
In the Türksat Lab, EEE faculty members and researchers will work together with Türksat professionals. In addition, EEE students will prepare senior projects and conduct graduate research in Türksat’s areas of interest.
It is expected that research done in the Türksat Lab will help bring many innovative technologies into industrial production. Bilkent University aims to contribute to the Turkish Republic’s goals for its centennial year of 2023 by producing knowledge and technology for the use and benefit of society and the economy.
