WHAT’S HOT AND WHAT’S NOT AT THE MOVIES?

As you all know, cinema is not just a matter of scenario.
In order to create a successful movie, there must be fluent and identical ways of expressing ideas through the silver screen and a necessary level of performance in acting. It is very easy to find a bunch of movies that are weak in some areas or maybe in all of them. Observing the products of the movie industry, which is mostly based on economical benefits, makes us long for something more artistic. In that sense, I think we should be thankful that there are some creative directors such as “Lars von Trier”. Because of this, I believe it’s big news for you movie addicts that his last movie “Dogville” deputed in Turkey on December 6th.
The leading female role is performed by the Australian beauty and successful actress, “Nicole Kidman” and, the leading male role by Paul Bettany (he played Charles Herman in “A Beautiful Mind”). The story develops around the mercilessness of humans because of self interests. I think, it’s a truly realistic scenario and it makes you feel as if you had gone through the same things in your life to a certain extent. This movie is very different than any other movie that you can watch nowadays, especially in terms of stage performance. When you watch the film you will definitely think that you are watching a theater play or a drama. The stage props lead you to believe this, since there is only a platform as on a theater stage and all the actors are performing on that platform. But, the coolest thing about the movie is that the director successfully creates mental images for his audience through his use of language and description. This method is a perfect way of getting rid of the excessive use of digitalized special effects and allows the audience to focus solely on the performance of the players and the scenario. Actually, this is what the film did. The performance of Nicole Kidman is worth seeing.
Although I have given an overview of the movie to you guys, I still have a little secret of my own about the movie. The scenario includes that secret from the beginning and you will be able to understand what I'm talking about at the end. When you see the reality of the actual movie, you will not believe your eyes. I strongly recommend this film to everyone, although the movie is a bit long (177min). The movie is currently being played at the Odeon Cineplex in Migros.
