“POP-EYED”

Four weeks left, can you believe it. In four weeks, our finals will be starting and when the final season comes I usually take that as the end of the semester. 11 weeks have gone by, did anybody realize the time that went by, I sure didn’t! I mean, to tell you the truth, I still don’t feel like a senior, stupid isn’t it. I had always, well I don’t know, imagined that when I became a senior, I would be different. You know more mature, having more knowledge, smarter maybe.. I don’t know.. I just thought I would feel different as a senior. News folks- you don’t. Like a few weeks ago one of our classes was going to be cancelled, our faculty secretary came into our class and said “your instructor will be attending 3rd year classes and the 4th year students are free to go”, I cant tell you how disappointed I was, why?? Because I got her all wrong, for a moment I thought I was a third year student and I was cursing the fourth years on how lucky they were.. duh... I know... That’s what I mean, your senior year feels like any other year, nothing special folks (spoils the little enthusiasm you have doesn't it? Hehe).
The only difference is, maybe, that you don’t worry too much about classes anymore (ohh nooo) and the reason for that is because you have other issues such as “what am I goinnngg to do” or “should I do my military service now or delay it?..” (for the guys) or “which master program should I apply to, this studying thing is good, I’ll have a few more years to decide what I really want to do”. If these questions aren’t enough, then all the extra exams you have to go into for your Master’s program or pretty much everything.. it almost makes you want to say “aaaahhhh I’m not going anywhere, its all too complicated”, but you know what, even if you say that you really don’t mean it.. sigh.. I think I know now what that special feeling is of seniorhood, the feeling of responsibility for your own life, and the concern for it... Damn, and I only thought that kind of responsibility would begin when I got married.
But don’t get me wrong, it’s not all bad, actually its a great feeling.. for some reason everybody around you respects you a lot more; “I’m a senior”: reaction “woooohhhh!”. Hey, I get to be the boss, because I’ve been here longer than you..hehe.. Just don’t forget while you go around acting like a smarty pants and being the boss, this is only going to last a year. Soo.. make the best of it, rule the world or at least act like it and if anybody asks you why the hell you’re acting so weird and annoying just say that its the “senior thing”, then they’ll understand.. right?
