AYVA Cup Tournament Highlights

Bilkent Versus Başkent
In this game, the first period ended head to head. However, as the game went on, Bilkent’s weak choices of shots and ineffective offense caused many turn-overs and fast breaks for Başkent. Then, substitutions and the skills of some of our players began to affect the score and the first period ended 20-10 with Başkent in the lead. In the second period, Bilkent cooled the game down. However, the lack of a set organizational game plan led to weak offenses and Başkent’s fast breaks hurt Bilkent. 3 substitutions and a change to a zone defense slowed Başkent down a bit but the period ended 38-30 with Başkent still ahead.
In the third, Bilkent had a poor start and the gap opened up to 15 points. At the very end of this period, Başkent received a technical foul and with this, Bilkent closed the gap to 47-51. In the beginning of the fourth period, we started extremenly well.
In the 20th second Bilkent got ahead. The score was now 59-51 with Bilkent ahead, and the Başkent players were demoralized. However, once again some clear shots were missed and we could not get back on defense quickly and again, Başkent scored well on fast break opportunities.
Before Bilkent knew it, the score was tied at 67. In the last few minutes Başkent got control of the game which ended 77-70 with the win going to Başkent.
