WHAT’S HOT AND WHAT’S NOT AT THE MOVIES?

Ferzan Özpetek was born in 1959 in Istanbul. In 1976, he moved to Italy for his education (Cinema History). As time passed, he developed himself and gave his first gift, in 1997, with the movie “Hamam”. He was discovered at the Cannes Film Festival and his work was positively received by the audience and respected critics. In 1999, his second movie, “Harem Suare” was selected in the “Selection Officielle” category at the Cannes Film Festival and had a noticeable success in Europe. In 2001, his third film, “Cahil Periler”, was the top movie on the charts for weeks in Italy. He created two well known Italian directors (Nanni Moretti and Giuseppe Tornatore) with this movie. This year, his fourth movie won more than 20 awards and is still on top of the charts; with 5 David di Donatello Awards (Italy’s Oscars) in best film, best female actor, best male actor, best music, best director-Cinema School Special (given by the cinema students) and many more from various kinds of festivals and awards.
In his fourth movie, “Karţý Pencere - La finestra di fronte”, Özpetek completely blows the audience’s mind by focusing on characters and expressing each detail in a perfectly fluent way. The story starts with an unexpected intersection of the lives of a married couple and a mysterious old man and develops with the changes in the characters’ lives. Nevertheless,
I believe, in a broad sense, the film tells you that you should make difficult choices and always follow your desires, even if there are conflicting social restrictions or personal responsibilities.
I think the scenario was excellent. Nonetheless, the leading cast of Giovanna Mezzogiorno, Massimo Girotti, Raoul Bova, Filippo Nigro, Serra Yýlmaz was very skilled, since they are all very well known performers in Italy. Moreover, the great music in the film supports the fluency and makes it more emotional. Because of all these factors, I definitely advise you guys to watch this movie as soon as possible, otherwise, it will be a tragic loss. Believe you me! The movie is currently being played at all well known movie theatres in Ankara.
