Bilkent Judges Battle Gazi Warriors in the First Game of the Season

These mistakes encouraged the visiting team, who had no wins against the Judges in their football history. The offensive strategies provided two touchdowns for the visiting team and the halftime score was 14-6. In the second half, the Bilkent Judges tried different strategies to score but the Gazi Warriors were more focused than the Judges and in the 3rd quarter, the visitors made another touchdown and led the game by 16 points (22-6). The Judges needed to score two touchdowns to tie the game but on offense, their focus and effort were not enough, except for Övünç Taner’s (#84) performance.
In the last quarter, the Bilkent Judges made a touchdown, which gave the Judges a glimmer of hope (22-14) and the Judges regained possession of the ball with an onside kick. There was a last chance to make one more touchdown for the Bilkent Judges, which would bring the game into over time. However, the Judges failed to score the touchdown and lost the game by the score of 22-14.
The Bilkent Judges’ head coach Alper Angın commented that the defeat against the Gazi Warriors is an important lesson for the Judges, to see the mistakes in both their offensive and defensive plays, for the upcoming games. Alper Angın also added that their chances for the championship are still very high. The next game will be played against Hacettepe Reddeers at the Hacettepe Beytepe Campus on Saturday, April 3.

Erkan Akçabay (ECON/II)
Asst. Head Coach Bilkent Judges
