Bilkent Student Guides met last week at a cocktail party celebrating the opening of their new office in the Engineering Building. Each day, crowds of high school students can be seen walking through the campus with a Bilkent student guiding them. Bilkenters share their experiences as they guide high school visitors from around Turkey on campus tours. There are currently about 40 students from different departments who are trained as guides.
Özfer Başkaya (MAN/IV) says, “As a senior, I realize more and more how important the information is that we give our visitors. I was one of the first student guides and I believe that not only the visiting students but also “we”, the student guides, receive numerous benefits from the program. The best part of the tours is that we get a chance to make new friends. We invite all students to visit our office near the Mithat Çoruh Auditorium.”
