Inter-Unversity Badminton Tournament Results

This weekend was quite entertaining for badminton fans as the National Inter-University Tournament was held in Bilkent University’s Main Sports Hall.
The tournament started on Friday with group matches and concluded on Sunday with the finals. After a series of competitive matches, Fırat University cruised to a championship victory followed by İzzet Baysal University and Gaziantep University. Unfortunately, Bilkent University’s badminton team, consisting of 14 players, could not make it to the finals, finishing 4th in their group.
Bilkent University’s coach İrfan Yıldırım, founder of the Turkish Badminton Federation, said that the team has many new players and things will get better as they gain more experience by playing matches. He also stated that most of the universities’ players are advanced-national level players, and naturally that makes a big difference. Lastly, he pointed out that badminton is a very unique sport in the sense that it does not discriminate by gender.
We congratulate our team for their effort and we wish them luck in their future competitions.
