Historian /Author Edward Erickson to Present Lecture
|
The Department of History has organized a Lecture to be given by Edward Erickson, Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army (retired), who served for some time at NATO headquarters in Ýzmir. Erickson is now teaching in the United States while working on his Ph.D. at the University of Leeds, in England. He has published two outstanding books on the Ottoman army in the early years of the twentieth century, ‘Defeat in Detail : the Ottoman Army in the Balkans, 1912-1913’, Praeger Westport, Conn. 2003 and ‘Ordered to Die: A history of the Ottoman army in the First World War’ published by the Greenwood/Praeger Press, of Westport, Connecticut, 2001.
He will lecture in room A-130 in the FEASS building at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 13, on the subject of ‘Putting a Face on the Ottoman Army: Studies in Combat Effectiveness during the First World War,’ an extension and elaboration of his earlier book on World War I, which is being written as his doctoral dissertation.
