"POP-EYED"

Everybody needs somebody”
I think this should become a motto for everyone. Okay we all know the various Turkish sayings which reminds us that the most important thing in this life is another person. On the other hand, there is of course the discussion of individuality as well. In my opinion? Well, I believe that to be an individual isn’t the same thing as being able to do it all by yourself, some people confuse the two things. Everybody is dependent on somebody else, a baby is dependent on its parents to be loved and cared for, a student is dependent on their teacher to pass a class (it’s true!!), a president is dependent on millions of people to be elected and graduate students (which I will hopefully be) is dependent on knowing the right people to get a job.
Sigh. these days saying that would be a lie because I am sure for centuries, the most important thing was knowing “ somebody”. I can imagine in the cave man days it was probably very important to know the strongest and hairiest man so that the dinasours didn’t eat you for dinner, or when the French revolution began, it didn’t happen with one person saying “I am gonna change everything” it happened with a person saying that and with “other” people supporting him =P See everybody needs somebody.. it's just the way the world works.. it is the nature of man.
A person can only stay by themselves for a small amount of time without going crazy… Robinson Crusoe talked to himself on his island, why did he feel the need? Because he was alone and alone, he wasn’t enough for himself, he wanted sound and company. Now I bet you are all wondering what the heck I am raving on about, it is simple- if we need others to make our lives more pleasant or easier to live in, then we should get to know the people around us much better. This shouldn’t be just a simple hello, though a simple hello can get you into a lot of places, it should be knowing that person in every single detail. Hey, maybe that person can help you, tell you a great restaurant to eat at, help you get into the job you’ve been wanting or actually do business with that person.
It is simple things that really do make a matter in the end and that can change so many things. If we are all a part of “Bilkent” I think we should take the time to get to know each other just a little bit better.
