International Translation and Interpretation Conference
|
The Department of Translation and Interpretation is organizing the "Second International Conference on Translation Studies in the New Millennium". The conference will be held on May 6 and 7 at the C-Block Auditorium, FEASS. Registration begins at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 6. There is no participation fee.
The School of Applied Languages is hosting translation experts from the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany and Uzbekistan. Prof. Dr. Basil Hatim of Heriot-Wat University, Prof. Dr. Hannelore Lee-Jahnke of the University of Geneva, Prof. Dr. Martin Forstner of the Johannes-Gutenberg University and Nasır Kambarov of Uzbek State University are key note speakers. The papers to be delivered deal with different aspects of translation theory.
The School of Applied Languages will also take this opportunity to present their new dictionary prepared by linguists and economists, for the translation of texts of the European Union: Avrupa Birliği Metinlerinin Çevirisi İçin Ekonomi Sözlüğü.
Everyone interested in translation, language studies, education, terminology, and lexicology are welcome to attend.
