Letter to the Editor

I would like to share my views about the recent Tennis Tournament. The tennis tournament held on the 17th and 18th of April was a landmark in the history of Bilkent, as it was the university's first tennis tournament. Having worked at Bilkent and taken tennis courses here, it was a great pleasure to be able to participate in this well-organized and exciting competition.
I am sure there are many tennis enthusiasts in this university, but maybe not everyone knows about the tennis facilities here. Each semester tennis courses are held at every level so that anyone can improve on their technique and style. Instructors are dedicated, hard working and most importantly, the classes are fun.
There are a variety of court surfaces and tennis courts at Bilkent. There is an outdoor court on East campus opposite the sports center, and 2 outdoor courts on Main Campus near Meteksan. A 'balloon' court is located behind the student dormitories on Main campus, which is ideal when the weather is cold or windy in the winter. Classes are held in the multi-purpose sports center on Main campus each semester during the week and over the weekends.
Tennis is sometimes overshadowed by team sports, but for good exercise, fun and excitement, it is hard to equal. If you would like more information phone the Main campus Sports Center at 290-1993.
Thank you.

Julia Goggin FAE
