“INTENTIONAL GARBAGE”

Between September 24 and 27, Bilkent hosted “The Second Congress of The Southeast European Unity of Guitarists”, through the cooperation of The Classic Guitar Association. The Southeast European Unity of Guitarists, consisting of members from Turkey, Greece, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Rumania, Hungary, Slovenia, Bosna Herzegovina and Macedonia, held its first congress on December 21-25, 2001 in Belgium.
The Unity, whose founders include Kürşad Terci and Kağan Konrad, instructors at the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, aims to provide new opportunities for young, talented guitarists and strengthen the cultural and educational relations between the countries. On the first two days of the congress, recitals were held by the most talented young guitarists of the member countries.
I had the chance to attend the last performance of “Guitar Days”. It was amazing! The rhythms of the guitars, along with the orchestra, conducted by Bujor Hoinic, charmed the audience. The famous concerto “Concierto de Aranjuez” of J. Rodrigo, which tells about the celebrations at old Spanish castles, received the most attention from the audience. The congress concluded with a nice piece from the Greek guitarist, Fotis Koutsothodoros, who played “Uzun İnce Bir Yoldayım” at the end of his performance. It is no doubt that the guitarists and the orchestra deserved the long-lasting applause as a result of their unforgettable performance.
Thanks to everyone who engaged in this organization for their efforts!
