Cinema at Bilkent

Sinema Toplulušu was established on campus by cinema lovers. There are three different types of cinema-related activities currently ongoing at the club: the showing of films on campus, cinema workshops, and the cinemagazine. In regard to films being shown, movies which have artistic value or have won recognition around world (Oscar or Golden Globe winning films), or simply very popular films, are made available to the general Bilkent population. These films are shown twice a week for all Bilkent members.
The other activity is the Cinema Workshop, which focuses on the making of short movies. At the first workshop, Sinema Toplulušu members gave seminars on how to write a screenplay, lighting, and how to use the camera. After the lessons, the workshop members made a short movie of about 10 to 15 minutes. So far this semester, two different screenplays have been written and one new screenplay is in progress. Workshops are on Wednesdays, from 5:45 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Student Council Building.
The CineMagazine is a weekly online magazine, and is at the Sinema Toplulušu website. Covered in the magazine are articles on posted films, letters from the editors, and the top ten movies in Turkey. All writers of the CineMagazine are volunteer Bilkent students. You can learn the latest news about Sinema Toplulušu and get information about movies playing at Bilkent from the web site below; www.sinema.bilkent.edu.tr.
If you are interested in becoming a member of Sinema Toplulušu or to become a writer for the CineMagazine, or if you want to try your hand at shooting a film, send an e-mail to cinema@ug.bilkent.edu.tr
