Ankara has been hosting its second Jazz Festival this year, organized by the Ankara Jazz Club. The festival that was launched on November 6, and will continue until November 16, includes world famous musicians such as Charlie Haden and Pink Martini. Two of the talents, the Baptiste Trotignon Trio and Charlie Haden are hosted by Bilkent University.
Having had the chance to listen to Trotignon, sponsored by Ülker and Turkish French Association, I can recall that it was a great privilege. The French musician, performing a bundle of his compositions with a variety of others, enchanted the audience with classic jazz tunes. Trotignon, a young jazz pianist, together with his musicians, a drummer and a contrabass player was delightful to listen to in the Bilkent Concert Hall.
Although Baptiste Trotignon will not be performing a second time, another concert is soon to be here. Charlie Haden presenting Nocturne is considered to be “a miracle” for the festival. The concert that will take place on November 11 at the Bilkent Concert Hall presents the Nocturne album released by Charlie Haden, David Sanchez and Joe Lavano which was awarded with a Grammy in 2001.
I would highly recommend it anyone who may have the chance, to participate in the Ankara Jazz Festival Concerts, as it may be a once in a life time experience.
