“I’m Going Bananas”: Madonna

Here’s an image for you: Long blonde hair tied up in a ponytail, teeny-weeny shorts--which resembled panties more than shorts--and the legendary pointy cone-shaped top ready to poke your eyes out. This, perhaps, was/is/will be the single most popular costume for any 80s party. The daring pop queen is nowadays drastically changing her image and reputation, perhaps mostly due to her female version of a mid-life crisis. Living with her director-husband Guy Ritchie in a historic mansion in Great Britain and showing great interest in Eastern mysticism, she more and more resembles a real English lady. Even her songs, once upon a time naughty and rebellious, like Erotica and Like a Virgin, are becoming more ladylike and classy, and sometimes criticize pop culture, as in American Life. Yet Madonna is Madonna, and she still loves to shock every once in a while. Here's another image: Madonna making out with Britney. Deep inside, Madonna is still a Bad Girl.
