DOST  Welcomes Outdoor Enthusiasts

Are you tired of the everyday problems of university life, and ready for an absorbing hobby that will change your outlook? Then the organization you are looking for is DOST (Outdoor Sports Society).

DOST was established in 1989 by a group of students that included Nasuh Mahruki (MAN '92) and Tunç Fındık (ELIT '93), who are the only Turkish mountaineers to have reached the summit of Mt. Everest. Currently celebrating its 15th year, our club has been able to organize many activities both on and off campus, as far away as the high pastures. These have included treks in Kızılcahamam and the Ihlara Valley, mountaineering practice and summit climbs in the Aladağlar, Kaçkarlar and Bolkarlar, and rock climbing in various places. Starting this year we will also be arranging mountain bike trips.

In short, when it comes to outdoor sports, whether done on the gentle slopes of the countryside or in the harsh conditions of high altitude, DOST is the place to be. If you are interested, come to our first meeting on October 5th in Room BZ-01 at 5:45 p.m. For more information contact Özgün Balaban at (533) 236-1453 or obalaban@ug.bilkent.edu.tr
