Bilkenters Step Up to the Challenge

Bilkent's first "Spring Fitness Challenge," which began on March 14, is now in full swing, with 230 Bilkenters participating. Organized by the Physical Education and Sports Center, it will continue until May 1. The challenge gives members of the Bilkent community an extra reason to work out: participants receive points for each exercise session they complete, and the three men and three women with the most points will receive prizes. To find out how things were going, Bilkent News stopped by the Student Dormitories Sports Hall and interviewed some of the participants who were working out.
"I've been working out since Monday, and am getting my conditioning back. I hope I'll be one of the first three! I come here during my free time between classes. I now have a better 'sports life.'"
İnanç Tüzüner (ECON/III)

"This Fitness Challenge is a great opportunity for all Bilkenters. It motivates us to join in more sports activities. I just began working out. The most important thing is to experience exercising in this wonderful sports hall.
I don't care about being first or second--just participating in the contest is great."

"Exercising regularly is very important. And to do this, we need motivation. The Spring Fitness Challenge gave me the motivation that I needed to work out. This kind of program attracts students to participate in more sports activities."
Özgün Balaban (EE)
"This program is very useful for people who haven't been working out regularly. Fitness is necessary for a healthy life. Many thanks to our sports instructors!" Ali Alper Kızılkaya (POLS)
