After the success of the Coast-to-Coast Walk in
2004, the members of Bilkent's new Yaya Hiking Club, formed this year,
have planned a two-week walk in Cappadocia. Since the aim of the club is
to combine archaeology and hiking, the walk will include visits to many
archaeological sites. To prepare for the walk, a reconnaissance was
carried out and many GPS points were recorded. The hike will go from UTM
coordinate to coordinate, sometimes off-road, with limited climbing of
hills and mountains. The walk will start on May 29 and end on
June 12, in time for some of the hikers to attend their graduation
ceremony! All interested Bilkenters are invited to participate in the
Cappadocia walk.
