Dear Editor,
This letter is in response to Gülay Acar's article in last week's issue
about the meals on campus.
The prices of the meals
in the cafeterias on campus are set according to costs and inflation.
The prices that were set in September 2004 increased by 8% in September
2005, less than the inflation rate.
In the cafeterias, there
are choices of different menus with different prices, such as table
d'hote. There are also vending machines, stands and canteens around
campus where people can find cheaper drinks and snacks.
The prices on campus are
25-30% lower than those of the restaurants in our neighborhood.
Also, please note that
the cafeterias in our university are inspected daily by specialists.
These inspections cover all aspects of the food served, from the food
materials that are being used to the hygienic conditions of the serving
process.
Thank you.
