Bilkent Basketball Teams Victorious Against METU and Başkent

The third annual Ayva Cup Basketball Tournament continued last week at our university, in the Main Campus Sports Hall. On Tuesday, November 29, both the women's and men's teams played against METU. It turned out to be a day of victory for Bilkent basketball and its supporters, with our teams winning both their games, by scores of 43-36 (women) and 76-47 (men).

In the women's game, METU led during the first and second periods, but Bilkent caught up during the third period with some accurate shooting. Esin Arsan was Bilkent's highest scorer, with 9 points. After the end of the game, coach Pınar Çınar stated that the women had won because they believed they could win.

The Bilkent men had an easier victory. They got off to a fast start, opening up a huge lead over METU during the first period, 25-9.

They increased this to 56-33 during the third period, and continued to dominate throughout the game. The highest scoring player for Bilkent was Kaan Maraş, with 14 points.

A relatively high number of fouls were committed by both teams in the women's game: 29 by METU and 22 by Bilkent. Both men's teams committed 18 fouls. The main referee for both games was Caner Uncu, with Esra Gülsoy as assistant referee in the women's game and Murat Özdervişoğlu in the men's. Şükrü Bal and Şeniz Gülsoy were the table referees.

On Thursday, December 1, the men’s team played another game, this time against Başkent. The Bilkent men were again the winners, by a score of 90-74. Bilkent top scorers in the game were Kaan Maraş, with 25 points, Ahmet Ünal, with 18, Serter Soner, with 12, and Başar Kıranğ, with11.

We wish our teams continued success in their future games!
