 The
Turkish Literature Center of Bilkent University is organizing a
symposium entitled "Arzunun Halleri: Türk Edebiyatında Aşk," on December
7, at 9:45 a.m. The purpose of the symposium is to present new
approaches to the subjects of love and desire in classical and modern
Turkish literature. Academics and researchers from Adnan Menderes,
Ankara, Başkent, Bilkent, Hacettepe and Leiden Universities will present
papers on various issues, ranging from obscenity in Turkish folk poetry
to the Don Juans in Turkish literature, and from the sexual politics of
Kemal Tahir to the provocative language of Küçük İskender.
The symposium, to which
everyone is invited, will be conducted in Turkish. A detailed program
