Dear Editor,
I just wanted to write
to express my gratitude to all those who worked hard the week of
November 22 to give us opportunities to hear: Craig Barrett answer Murat
Birsel's questions; Fikret Bila's opinion of Turkey's relationship with
the EU; Turgut Özakman on his latest, highly acclaimed book; and,
finally, esteemed Turcoman movie directors speak in memory of deceased
director and former Kirghiz ambassador Tolomush Okeyev. I have been at
Bilkent for almost two and a half years now, and this last week was one
of the best, thanks to these special talks and the people who organized
them.
Regards,

Dear Editor,
At the Speed Restaurant on Main Campus, there are signs displayed in the
entrance which expressly show that parts of the restaurant are
designated for non-smokers. Recently, however, an increasing number of
people seem either unaware of the non-smoking signs or are flouting them
completely.
This means that people
have to eat in an increasingly smoky environment and have to endure the
ordeal of smoking passively.
Moreover, there are also
two sections of both restaurants which have a designated smoking area.
Yet, people are openly smoking in all parts of the establishment. What
would it take for the smokers to respect the right to clean air and
health of others?
Yours sincerely,
David Cedric Bennette
