The Electrical and
Electronics Engineering Department's annual Research Presentation Days (RPD),
highlighting the work of EEE graduate students, took place November
24-25 at Mithat Çoruh Auditorium.
During this event, all
graduate students in the department (with the exception of first-year
M.S. students) present their research activities. This year, there were
over 60 presentations organized into 12 sessions. Audience members
included senior students, graduate students and faculty members.
"This is a very
important part of graduate education," stated Dr. Defne Aktaş, the
organizer of this year's RPD. "It motivates the students and gives them
an opportunity to get feedback about their research. Furthermore, RPD
provides information about the research activities in the department and
helps students become familiar with current research problems in EEE."
Each year, the IEEE
Bilkent University Student Branch gives awards for the three best
presentations at RPD. The recipients are determined according to
evaluations provided by the audience. This year, the award recipients
were Özgür S. Ergül, Muhammed N. Şenlik and A. Serdar Tan. In addition,
Onur Alparslan received the department's Outstanding Master's Thesis
Award for 2005.
