The
Operational Research Club's Case Bilkent 2006 competition ended
successfully on Sunday, February 26. This is a brand-new case study
contest, in which a general concern at Bilkent University is featured as
the case under discussion. This is also the first such competition in
Turkey organized entirely by students: ORC members wrote the case and
gave it to the eight competing groups entered in the competition.
This year's topic was
the balance of theoretical and practical education at Bilkent University,
discussed from a student's viewpoint. The competitors received the case
three days before they were to make their presentations addressing the
issue. Four jurors--Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration Erhan
Erkut, CDPC Coordinator Yıldız Balamir Öztürk, Akın Umut Sav from
Academy International and Case Bilkent 2006 Project Leader İbrahim
Özveren--judged the eight presentations. The group led by Necati Barış
Öztürk (IE/II) was selected as the winning team, and its members will
receive free NLP training as a prize.
