When we asked Mr. Seike
if he likes Turkish food, he laughed and said, "Turkish food is very
delicious. My family and I have gained weight since coming to Turkey. My
wife has a Turkish recipe book, and we cook Turkish food every day at
home." He added that he only tastes the food in the restaurant, so he
has room to eat Turkish food afterwards.
We also asked Mr. Seike
whether cooking Japanese food was difficult. "Japanese cuisine doesn't
resemble any other cuisine," he answered. "It is very different and
difficult to prepare. On the other hand, Chinese dishes are more like
European cuisine. Japanese meals need great attention to detail. To the
students, it looks hard at first, but they soon get used to it."
Every day, THM and THS
Department students from different sections cook from8:30 a.m. to 12
p.m., and the restaurant serves between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Le Piment
Rouge offers a different menu each week. If you want to enjoy lunch at
there, you should make a reservation, because students prepare their
special menus for only 20 to 30 people per day, during the noon hours.
Mr. Seike said that he
thinks Turkish people don't know Japanese culture very well. However,
the Japanese meals at Le Piment Rouge will give them a chance to learn
more. And, he added, "Those who can't come to the restaurant are very
welcome to visit me during my office hours to talk."
We hope you will have a
chance to meet Mr. Seike at the Le Piment Rouge Restaurant and enjoy the
Japanese cuisine served there.
