The program, scheduled
for 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, will take place
in the FEASS Building's C Block Auditorium. It will include the well-known
actress-director and drama professor Yıldız Kenter reading some of
Attila İlhan's poems in Turkish and English. Hilmi Yavuz, a member of
Bilkent's Department of Turkish Literature, will deliver the opening
address. This will be followed by a brief talk about the poetry of
Attila İlhan by poet Ahmet Özer, a member of Bilkent's Turkish Unit.
Selected works by the poet, in the original and in translation, will be
read by Hilal Aydın, Oya Canlı, Nevin Çil, Serhat Demirel, Hasan Mercan,
Anooshirvan Miandji, Laurent Mignon, Ahmet Simin, Thomas Zimmerman and
Ömer Faruk Zora. A special feature will be the showing of a short TRT
documentary film with Attilâ İlhan reciting some of his own poems.
The program is free of
charge and open to all.
