 Bilkent
University will play host to a "Mevlevi Sema Ayini" (ritual of the
whirling dervishes) on Thursday, March 16. The program, scheduled to
take place at 6 p.m. at Bilkent's Main Sports Hall, will start with a
talk on Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi and the whirling dervishes by Prof.
Talat Halman, who is a well-known authority on the subject. Then, the
whirling ritual will be presented by 34 dervishes and Mevlevi musicians
from Konya. The program is being organized by Club Platform, and is free
and open to all.
